Saturday Again: Eng vs Sri Lanka

Today I went back to the gym and did not three but four repeats on the 4 machines that were more concerned with the lower body. I used a weight setting of 27.5 kg and that seemed not hard but I did want to go slow. I also had a fried radish cake brrakfast at Tim Ho Wan. The plan was to warch the eng va sl t20 world cup tie at h and j - a virtual knockout for England, SL already being out. So Australians today would root for Sri Lanka. The game started at 4 pm so had a few hours to kill. I cooked up some veg korma ( or something in that vein) . As it turned out, it turned out not so good. The vegetables were undercooked, salt was too less and the flavor of the gravy was too hohum. All in all, I was displeased with myself. By now, I had come to expect a certain minimum standard of cooking even without following a specifix recipe. Since this did not happen, I began to do a root cause analysis mentally. Somehow I think it had to do with the fact that I made a paste of onion, ginger, garlic and chillies. In so doing, I had added a modicum of water to the grinder- and while this enabled paste formation, it was always tough to fry this paste sufficiently such that all the water had evaporated and vestiges of oil droplets could be discerned by a casual glance. I had tried negotiating this watery onion paste a few times before as well to no avail. I had to sort this routine out- note to self!
The game was lack lustre too , and so was the chili chicken we ordered with the light beers. The only thing of note was bluegrass, who performed quite well and I heard them play some tunes for the first time. For example, Spending my time by Roxette and where the streets have no name by U2, both of which turned out well. They also attempted Pour some sugar on me by def leppard. That turned out a bit like my veg korma. Also today I started a new read, having completed Atomic Habits ( which was a listen and not a read). This one was called “how to Change”- another self help book with a catchy title. Will soon report of there is meat in the text or of it is another regurgitation of the patently obvious. Thanks to Libby, atleast I am only paying for it with an opportunity cost rather than a monetary cost.
